One of our favourites is Christmas Biscuits! They are easy and simple ingredients you can use and its always fun and messy! Check out the recipe below!
Christmas Biscuits
Shortbread (makes 10 biscuits)
Ingredients
Festive shaped biscuit cutters
9oz Plain Flour
4oz sugar
6oz margarine
Method
Mix ingredients in a bowl with hands roll and cut into shapes
Bake 190c for 15 minutes
Optional - decorate with icing and enjoy
Another great activity is Pinecone Reindeers! The children love this one at Nursery. Its a great way to introduce new materials to children and its another messy one which the children always love!
Pinecone Reindeers
Materials
Googly eyes/ eyes cut out from paper
Red pom pom for the nose
Pinecone
Sticks or pipe cleaners for antlers
String or ribbon to hang from tree
PVA glue
Optional glitter
Method
Gather sticks and pinecone whilst on a winter walk
Stick eyes, nose, and legs onto the pine cone
Add the string and glitter and hang on the tree.
The Melted Snowman. This fun activity is a perfect quick activity that requires very little control from the adult. Very good to engage the little ones and have them get creative at Christmas time.
Melted Snowman
Materials
White paint
Blue card or paper
Black card
Orange card
Glue
Method
Let your child free paint onto the blue card or paper with the white paint while talking about snow and snowmen
With the black card adult to cut out a hat shape and 2 squares, with the orange card cut out a triangle shape and twig arms. Allow your child to stick these onto the white paint.
The Stickman Story are those brave enough to head outside into the brisk cold. Wrap up warm and enjoy a lovely story about the stickman! Collect your sticks and create your own story when you get back home and into the warm.

Explore the outdoors for your sticks to make your stickman
Make your stickman using the materials.
Finally, its time to decorate! What better way to get the children involved than them creating their own decorations. Very little ingredients and you are on your way to creating your decorations. Get the family involved too and its always a good option for a gift to the grandparents...
Salt Dough Tree Decorations
Ingredients
4 cups of flour
1 cup of salt
1 ½ cups of warm water
Method
Mix the salt and flour in a large bowl
Slowly add warm water and stir until it becomes dough
Roll out and use cutter to make to desired shape
Ask your child if they would like to make a handprint in the dough
Use a toothpick to write 2024 in the dough and make a small hole in the top
Place on a baking tray at 150c for 1 hour
Allow to cool
Decorate or paint
Place string through the hole and hang on your tree.
